After three years since the initial release of Godot 4, version 4.7 consolidates the engine's maturity by prioritizing developer quality of life and eliminating friction in the workflow. Check the Godot Official Announcement and the Godot Changelog for more info:

- Add HDR output for 2D and 3D scenes.
- New node for rectangular light sources with AreaLight3D.
- New Asset Store, which replaces the former Asset Library.
- AtlasTexture support in TextureRect.
- New offset transforms for Control nodes.
- Add accelerometer and gyroscope inputs from controllers.
- Support for the latest XR platforms.
- Direct Android exporting and publishing.
- Several bug fixes and usability improvements.

Projects comming from Godot 4.x are almost compatible with Godot 4.7, because this is not a major version (as Godot 3.x to Godot 4.0). For most games and apps made with 4.6 it should be relatively safe to migrate to 4.7, but check the Migration Guide from Godot 4.6 to Godot 4.7 for some breaking changes and the Official Documentation for more info.

Following the release of Godot 4, Godot 3 is maintained as a Long Term Support (LTS) version for a limited period. Support is restricted to critical fixes and occasional backports, while all primary development efforts are now focused on Godot 4.

The Godot Engine is a free and open-source, cross-platform game engine that provides a complete and unified set of tools for creating both 2D and 3D games. It features an intuitive editor, a flexible scene system, and a robust scripting environment, enabling developers to build, test, and deploy games efficiently across multiple platforms!
